INFRARED SAUNA

What are infrared saunas?

Infrared saunas use infrared wavelengths to penetrate deep within the tissue, muscle and bones. Unlike traditional saunas that use heated rocks to increase the temperature of the air around you making it difficult to breathe, an infrared sauna uses invisible infrared wavelengths that mimic the way the sun produces heat to heat your core - making it a much more comfortable sauna experience. By penetrating deep into your body, these wavelengths encourage your core temperature to slowly rise allowing your body to gently remove the build-up of unwanted toxins in your system.

Our infrared saunas are full spectrum meaning they emit Far, Mid and Near infrared wavelengths.

Why should I use an infrared sauna?

Scientists have established that infrared waves are beneficial to the human body because they are easily absorbed, stimulating the lymphatic, immune and cardiovascular systems. Infrared saunas may be beneficial for a range of health conditions including:

  • Detoxification; deep liver + lymphatic support.

  • Improving skin tone; including cellulite

  • Support with skin conditions such as acne, eczema and dermatitis;

  • Muscle fatigue and recovery;

  • Water retention;

  • Energy production;

  • Weight loss;

  • Immune boosting;

  • Stress relief and mental health

  • Sleep management
  • Hormone management.

How often should I use infrared saunas?

We recommend at least upwards of twice a week. It can depend on your goal or condition and you can use it daily if you wish. Infrared sauna session can be built into your weekly routine like you would exercise. If you are using the infrared sauna for different health protocols (e.g. a cleanse or detoxification program), it may help to sauna more frequently for greater results. If you have any questions at all about our saunas, don't hesitate to contact us.

Can I bring a friend?

You can definitely bring a friend to your sauna session. We have 2-person saunas. We charge an extra $15 per session per person, if you bring a friend.

Are the sauna rooms private?

Yes, our sauna rooms are 100% private and secluded. The room will be allocated to you for the entire time of your booking, we allot 1hour per booking for 45min sweat sessions. Each room has a small table and hook for you to hang your bag/clothing items.

What should I wear during my session?

All rooms are private so we welcome you to wear whatever you feel most comfortable in - which can be nothing at all. Please remember to remain seated on a towel during your session.

Should I shower mid-way through my session if I get hot?

No, we do not recommend showering mid-way through your session. Infrared saunas are dry saunas and water can easily damage the saunas. We request that you please be seated on a towel throughout the duration of your session and be mindful of water inside the saunas. Should you wish you shower mid-way through a session we kindly ask you dry off completely before re-entering the sauna. If you don't mind staying a little sweaty post-sauna, we actually recommend waiting 30 minutes after a session to shower. Your body may continue to sweat for at least 30 minutes after a sauna session so best to wait until your body temperature cools down.

How are the saunas cleaned?

The saunas are thoroughly wiped down and cleaned between each sauna session. The saunas are made with Canadian cedar wood, which is also a natural antibacterial. Infrared lighting and the high sauna temperature are also natural disinfectants

Do you have shower facilities?

We have a beautiful private outdoor rain shower that is hot or cold for you post sweat. If you don't need to shower immediately or if you don't mind staying a little sweaty post-sauna, we actually recommend waiting 30 minutes after a session to shower. Your body may continue to sweat for at least 30 minutes after a sauna session so best to wait until your body temperature cools down. This can mean the benefits work for longer.

We are also situated just across the road from Tallows Beach or the beautiful Tea Tree Lake. Both amazing post sweat rinse off options.

MASSAGE

What should you expect in an Equilibrium Massage?

Our massage appointments are 75mins in duration. Your appointment beings when your massage therapist shows you into your treatment room. Each appointment begins with a short consultation and explanation of the process, review of your current state of being, and health history. This short consultation, and the time it takes you to get changed is included in your appointment time. Your massage therapist will leave the room while you undress, and while you get yourself ready. During the massage, your massage therapist will use a warmed sesame oil and complete a specifically designed sequence of strokes for lymphatic support and moving of stagnant energy, physically, mentally and emotionally, that were discussed during the consultation at the beginning of your appointment. The massage is finished with a seated head massage. Please let your massage therapist know if you are too warm or cold during treatment or the pressure is not as desired. After the massage, your massage therapist will leave the room so you can get dressed or direct you to your infrared sauna if that has been included in you appointment. Make sure you wear clothes that are easy to change in to and out of.

Will my massage hurt?

Massage therapy should not hurt. We don't believe in 'no pain, no gain'. This is a massage of rhythmic strokes and is a medium pressure massage to focus on supporting the lymphatic system. With that in mind, sometimes there is some discomfort over particularly tight or sore areas. If the pressure is too uncomfortable, or if there is areas of concern make sure you let your massage therapist know.

How often should I get a massage?

Our massage is designed for you to get regularly as a form of therapy and also prevention. With focus on your lymphatic and nervous systems it inner peace and outer radiance. Our lymphatic system is our responsible for removing waste from every cell while helping to regulate the immune system. When the lymph flow becomes stagnant and congested, wastes and toxins begin to build up. This can lead to weak immunity and a wide variety of health issues.

Poor waste removal in the lymphatic system can affect almost any part of your body. When your lymph vessels become congested, you may experience:

  • Fatigue
  • Bloating
  • Water retention
  • Stiffness, especially in the morning
  • Brain fog
  • Itchy and dry skin
  • Cellulite
  • Stubborn weight gain
  • Chronic sinusitis, sore throats, colds, and ear issues
  • Breast swelling with the menstrual cycle
  • Swollen glands
  • Cold hands and feet

There are a variety of causes to lymphatic congestion. Although the body is naturally designed to cleanse itself of wastes and toxins, imbalances can throw off your ability to detoxify and allow wastes to build up. ICEBATH

How long is an ice bath session?

Your slot is booked for 15 mins but sessions in the ice bath are 3mins long. If you are an experienced ice bath user and wish to do longer please speak to the in house guide.

Is your ice bath private?

No our ice bath is located on our outdoor deck space so there may be others around. The Wellness House is a sanctuary so is never overly crowded but we do find when theres others around this can be a supportive energy for the ice bath.

How do you know when the 3mins is up?

There is a timer provided in your session.

Are there any pre existing conditions that need to be considered before using?

If you have a pre-existing cardiovascular disease or high blood pressure, or type 1 and type 2 diabetes you need to be cautious when using ice baths. You must consult your practitioner or physician before using our facilities, as the decrease in core temperature and the immersion in cold water constricts blood vessels and slows the flow of blood in the body.

I'm on my period, should I use the icebath?

Ice baths restrict bloodflow through constricting blood vessels. It's not actually ideal time for someone on their period to be doing cold therapy as its a time when blood vessels are meant to be opening to remove tissue.

Should I have a hot shower straight after?

We recommend luke warm. As you go tingly feeling if going from ice to hot shower. If its earlier in the day or a hot day it can be beneficial to let your body warm up naturally.

What do I wear?

All participants must wear swimwear at all times whilst in the icebath.

Why is there no ice?

Ice is not produced by our bath as it does not go below 5 degrees for health and safety reasons.

How many people can fit in the ice bath?

1 person goes in the ice bath at a time.

What should I do if I feel light headed?

Take your time, as us for some assistance. Have a warm shower and some tea. Stay seated for a little while.

Do I need to put my whole body in straight away?

To start out, maybe try your feet and legs then move to your full body up to your chest. Do not put your head under.

Is hypothermia a risk?

This can occur by staying in an ice bath for too long, therefore we have set the time limit to 3 mins per session.

What if I'm feeling unwell? What should I do?

Stop immediately. Ask for assistance to get out.

Should I ice bath on a full stomach?

No, best to avoid eating large meals before your session.
